One of the most rewarding parts of our choir journey is taking part in guest

performances at local events and venues. Over the years, we’ve discovered that

these occasions are by far the best way to raise awareness of our choir’s

existence and to spark interest from potential new members.

They’re not just about visibility, though. Guest performances give us extra chances

to share the songs we’ve been working hard on throughout the term, before the

excitement of our main show. Singing in different settings also helps our members

build confidence, as they learn to perform in new environments and connect with a

variety of audiences.

Some of our favourite appearances have been outdoors, such as singing for Race

for Life on Blackpool Promenade, where the sea breeze, lively crowds, and

meaningful cause all combine to make the experience unforgettable.

Another highlight was our summer courtyard performance at Penny Farm, where our

audience included a pony and her foal!

The lovely sunshine had us donning our

uniform sun hats - a total contrast to performing at Preston Flag Market for the

Christmas Fayre, when we layered up under our choir hoodies to keep warm. On

that occasion, we also had the chance to hear several other choirs from across

Lancashire, which was both inspiring and great fun.

Speaking of hearing other choirs, we’re now looking at expanding our ladies’

musical experiences by participating in events such as the UK Choir Festival and

the Lytham St Anne’s Festival of Choirs. Both are wonderful opportunities to

perform for fellow choristers and enjoy the incredible variety of choir styles thriving

across the North West. These gatherings aren’t competitive, but they do inspire us

to prepare our best musical efforts and take pride in what we share together.

This year, alongside our main show at the Norbreck Castle Hotel Blackpool on Thursday 4th December, we’ll also be appearing at Abingdon Street Market and Penny Farm, this time, both indoors. We can’t wait to bring our music to more people across the

community.
